Online workshop on Yoga to commemorate “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav” in GDC Kalakote completed

Kalakote, Jammu, June 20: Govt Degree college Kalakote, successfully completed the third day of Four day online workshop on the theme, “ Yoga at home and Yoga with family”, organized by the Department of Physical Education in collaboration with EBSB Club and Literary Club, to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day 2021, in commemoration to “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav”. The third day started with a positive vibe as all the participants had already developed a keen interest in learning Yoga and incorporating it in their lifestyle routine.
Starting the session through an online platform with great energy and enthusiasm the resource person Mr. Som Dev Khajuria ( Physical Education Master C/O DYSSO Udhampur) talked at length about the history of celebrating International Yoga Day and the way it has contributed towards creating awareness about the benefits of yoga, thus popularizing this form of exercise not only in the country but across the world. He further added that the benefits of doing yoga are multifold and extend beyond the physical well-being and yoga can be a great way to begin with if we are looking forward to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
On this note, he began the yoga session and taught various asanas to the participants including Pranayam like, Sitali, Bhastrika, Kapalbhati, Anulom-Vilom, Bharhmri and Udhgith and also in sitting position Mandukasana and Shsvasana. He also explained the various health benefits of performing these asanas.
All the participants practiced these asanas along with the Resource Person with great zeal. The yoga session ended with a Shanti Path adding a sense of spirituality to it.
Speaking on the event, through an online platform, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal GDC Kalakote emphasized on the fact that the Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness; increases body awareness; relieves chronic stress patterns; relaxes the mind; centers attention; and sharpens concentration.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Marve Sofi (Convener Literary Club) through an online platform, wherein she extended her gratitude to Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta for his valuable support and guidance, she also thanked the Resource Person, Som Dev Khajuria for sparing time for this workshop and also acknowledged the co-operation of the faculty members and the students for making this programme successful.
