Authorities repeat same promises, same figures

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 20: Following footsteps of the political governments to hold meetings after meetings to hoodwink the gullible masses the incumbent dispensation is also convening one after another meeting to give a message that ‘all is well’ in the administration. But system appears to be totally collapsed on the ground due to prevailing mess and anarchy.
Interestingly same figures are repeated in one after another meeting because officers are feed up with back-to-back meetings by the higher-ups.
On Saturday during a meeting, Principal Secretary Power Development Department (PDD), Rohit Kansal was informed that under CSS Rs. 1576.96 crores has been sanctioned for rural system strengthening projects while Rs. 1538.98 crore has been sanctioned for projects in urban areas. These include projects under the CSS such as DDUGJY and IPDS and also under special package under the Prime Minister’s Development Programme (PMDP). The projects include various distribution strengthening works such as the creation of substations, augmentation of existing stations as well as HT/LT improvements, AB cabling , etc.
Ironically in the earlier meeting, which was held on June 5, the same information was given to the Principal Secretary. Interestingly same figure and the same information was shared in the two successive meetings and the same was released in the official handouts.
Promises made in March 6 meeting regarding preparations for summers remained only on papers.
During the March 6 meeting it was promised that uninterrupted power would be supplied to the residents of Jammu during summer, but the promise is yet to be fulfilled.
It was informed in the meeting that massive capacity addition works have been taken up well in advance on Fast Track basis and the Transformation Capacities of 160MVA at 220/132KV Level at Grid Station Barn,20MVA at 132/33kV Level at Grid Station Gladni & 20MVA at 132/33kV Level at Grid Station Canal shall be accomplished before the required deadline which will largely address the overloading issue in Jammu district.
Likewise, the Principal Secretary was further informed that two major transmission Projects at Kathua and Samba with transformation the capacity of 320MVA at 220/66KV level are expected to be added by end-March this year and they will alleviate overloading issues at 220KV Grids and improve the reliability and quality of power supply.
It was also informed that the projects will be completed by April and May this year respectively.
