Mishriwala-Tokrian Road wears off in 3 months | Concerned department used substandard material, allege locals | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 20: “We waited eagerly for a long time to see this road get macadamized, but sub-standard material used by the concerned department has disappointed us,” said the residents, Pandorian. After a long wait the Mishriwala to Tokrian road was blacktopped, the work was completed in the beginning of this year, but within three months, the road constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 130 lakhs has worn off. The story does not end here. The road was repaired again but sub-standard material was used to carry out the works. “The blacktopping works were carried out in winter and rainy days. We have been protesting for the last three months but no one is listening to us”, locals said, adding that the government should handover the case to the anti-graft agency to detect the scam. "Since the road has worn off again, school going children face difficulties, even if moderate showers occur,” they said. Residents threatened to hit the streets if the road is not repaired. “ We are also planning to meet the Advisor to LG, R R Bhatnagar. We have sufficient proof in the form of videos and photographs to expose the concerned department”, they said. |
