AJHLA expresses serious concern over engulfing impact of COVID-19 pandemic | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 20: In the meeting of office bearers of All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association held through video conferencing, the chairman, Inderjeet Khajuria expressed serious concern over the engulfing impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the starving hotel industry but hails the steps being undertaken by the administration for revival and survival of tourism sector. According to Pawan Gupta, President of the association, Corona pandemic and continuous lockdowns have broken the backbone of the tourism fraternity Android p particularly that of budget hoteliers. Hotel industry is passing through the worst phase of time and is unable to stand on its own legs without the active support of the government. The association welcomed the recent inspectional visits of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langer along with team to the various prestigious pipeline projects sites like Artificial lake, Suchetgarh Border, Gharana wetland, Heritage Railway Station, Bagh-e-Bahu for musical fountains with light and sound, etc. which have kindled a ray of hope among the tourism sector and would help to infuse a new life in the stalled tourism sector, worst sufferer of covid pandemic and lockdowns. The expedition in the work on the aforementioned projects for their early completion would definitely help Jammu to blossom as an independent tourist destination instead of transit camp for the pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji and Shri Amarnath yatra. Gupta further said that association appeals to the Government to start work at the earliest with true spirit and in positive mode on the already sanctioned mega projects like Bhagwati Nagar amusement water park, Improvement/Upgradation of Raghunath Mandir complex, Legendary site of love lore of Sohni Mahiwal at village Hamirpur Siddhar of Tehsil Akhnoor, on the bank of river Chenab, Development of Jhajjar Kotli, etc., and that too in time bound limits unlike hollow announcements made by the earlier governments of Jammu and Kashmir but not keeping their words in this regard. Other office bearers present in the meeting were M L Sharma, Anil Khajuria, Pritam Sharma, H S Manhas, Baldev Raj, Sunil Suri, Swarn Singh, Sankul Gupta, Manpreet Singh, Varun Gupta and Nishant Gupta. |
