POJK DPs of 1947 first victims, stake holders in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 20: MJR47, Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 from POJK, hailed the decision of the GOI to convene meeting of political parties of UTJK on June 24 at New Delhi to discuss issues pertaining to JKUT. Though belated, but is forward looking and progressive step. Such meetings will certainly pave way for peace, progress and prosperity of everybody living in the UT. But it’s strange that POJK DPs of 1947 who are the first victims and first stake holders in the Kashmir issue are still ignored in absence of any invitation for the meeting. They are living as refugees in exile despite the fact their role to save the state in the Tribal raid of 1947 can neither be ignored nor underestimated. In fact they’re the saviors of the state. It is because of their huge sacrifice facing genocide suffering great loss of human life and home and hearth during displacement from illegally occupied part of the then J&K state. After long seven decades the GOI sanctioned a small cash relief of Rs 5.5 lakhs per family of the count of 1947 against ready recommended packages in 2014, including financial relief of Rs 25 lakhs per family by J&K govt and Rs 30 lakhs by Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs beside other reliefs. This when divided among the descendant claimants came to a shameful few thousand rupees only. Politically DPs been totally ignored and have never been made to feel part of political system in absence of any representation of DPs in state assembly or Parliament. We have more than 13 lakh populace having 6-7 lakh voters. How come that this class has no political representation? We have made many representations in this behalf. Even have approached the Delimitation Commission for UTJK of our genuine and justified demand but without any positive response. If GOI claims illegally Occupied part of Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan as integral part of India how come the original residents of that area who were forcibly driven out from that area and now living in Indian part of state are being politically deprived of their political rights . Even in the Reorganisation Act 2019 Clause 4 section 14 (4), 24 seats in the assembly kept reserved , are not given to DPs . We have already given our views on this section viz-a-viz our claim. We request GOI to reconsider our request and DPs be made part of the meeting in Delhi so that we can also place our views on the process of redressal of and measures to be taken to restore peace and equitable prosperity for all the sections in the state. |
