6/21/2021 11:32:54 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, June 21: Vishal Khatri Sabha joined India’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by extending a helping hand to migrant workers by distributing facemasks at Gole Market Gandhi Nagar Jammu today.
More than 500 masks distributed among migrant laborers. Speaking on the occasion, Vishal Khatri Sabha J&K President Devender Seth said that Sabha has been distributing food items, fruits among migrant workers since the beginning of lockdown who are most affected in this pandemic situation. Social distancing was maintained during the distribution.
Seth maintained that creating large scale awareness on the use of measures such as the Arogya Setu App and distribution of aids such as masks and sanitizers in the rural, semi-urban, and migrant workers is of utmost importance. There is also need to support artisans, garbage sorters, rickshaw pullers or wage labourers besides daily wage laborers who are engaged in construction or work in hotels, dhabas, or in factories. Seth said that post lockdown, there is need to work in tandem with local governments, health departments and police personnel to ensure no one is left behind. Essential commodities such as food, dry ration, water, vegetables should be distributed among the needy especially migrant workers, homeless, the elderly and communities living in remote areas.
There is need to arrange community kitchens, distributing essentials at the doorstep of the elderly and others in need.
This way we can support government and Health department in strengthening the fight against Covid-19 by enforcing social distancing in public places, conducting community surveillance to ensure people stay indoors and encouraging people to wash their hands regularly, added Seth.
