15% healthcare, 16 % frontline workers yet to take a jab in J&K | | | Early times Report
Jammu, June 21: Over five months have been passed after beginning of the special vaccination drive for them, 15 percent of the health workers, across J&K, have yet not taken a jab. While as authorities are claiming to achieve 100 percent target in vaccinating 45 years and above population in four districts, 15 percent of health workers and 16 percent of frontline workers have yet to take vaccination. During a meeting with Union Home Secretary, Ajay Bhalla, it was informed that 75 percent of population above 45 years group has been vaccinated. It was also informed that J&K has also vaccinated 85% of health care workers, 84% of frontline workers, and 10% of the population in 18- 45 age category. J&K government assured the Central Government of achieving 100% vaccination in 45 age category by 30th June 2021 and 30% coverage in the 18- 45 years age category by 15th July 2021 through robust vaccination drives which have been ramped up to a capacity of administering 1.6 lakh doses per day. In J&K first phase of vaccination was started on January 15 this year to cover frontline health care workers across the Jammu and Kashmir. |
