Ravindra Sharma of Jammu features in Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 24: Theatre actor, director and trainer Ravinder Sharma featured today at Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show, ‘Young Voices of Theatre’ at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu where he shared his inspirational thoughts with the global audience. Born and brought up in Jammu, Ravinder Sharma is Masters in Public Administration and PG Diploma holder in Journalism & Mass Communication. He has been continuously active in theatre for the last 20 years. He has worked under the guidance of eminent theatre directors of the country like; Roysten Abel, Padamshree Balwant Thakur, Dr Sudhir Mahajan, Bapi Bose, Harish Khanna, Souti Chokerborty, Deepak Kumar, Anil Warikoo, Rakesh Singh, Durvesh Arya and many more. He has acted in more than 35 plays. He has also performed at Bharat Rang Mahotsava. He has the honour of receiving many State Academy awards including; Best Actor, Best Director, Best Light-Designer, Best Set-Designer, Best Costume-Designer and many more. In a candid conversation with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee actor and Natrang’s senior artist Anil Tickoo, Ravinder narrated his journey of theatre. He honestly asserted that as he was aware that he is not formally trained in theatre, he enriched his knowledge by reading and watching plays and also through many enlightening theatre workshops conducted by eminent trainers. He also believes that theatre is a means of self-enrichment. He expressed his gratitude towards all those who have contributed in enhancing his vision of theatre especially towards his family for their constant support. A full-time and hardworking theatre practitioner Ravinder who started his journey as an actor believes that to act is a great responsibility he also shared that he feels more comfortable as theatre director. Ravinder gets amazed by the content of classics, and has directed several classical Greek, Shakespearean and Indian plays. To the new entrants, who want to pursue theatre as a career, Ravinder advises to keep patience and dedication intact as one would be needing immense volumes of them. He also advises to keep the focus clear and not get distracted by short cuts.
