UDHAMPUR, June 24: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur District to review the current COVID-19 arrangements in the district and the measures taken by the district administration for mitigation of COVID.
During the tour to Udhampur, the Advisor chaired a meeting with BDCs, DDCs, and ULB members, Representatives of traders Associations, Transporters and religious leaders and District officers of various departments to review the current COVID- 19 scenario of District Udhampur at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur
The meeting was attended by District Development Council Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, Director Rural Development Department, Jammu Kishore Singh Chib, SSP, Sargun Shukla, Members of DDCS and BDCs, President MC Dr. Jogeshwar Gupta, District Officers besides Representatives of traders Associations Transporters and religious leaders.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur gave a brief about the steps being taken up by the district administration to contain the spread of Corona virus in the district. Advisor appreciated the measures taken by district Administration to enforce Covid appropriate behaviour which is must to prevent the spread of virus. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the Administration of District Udhampur will be conducting ward wise vaccination so that target groups and 18-45 years people can be vaccinated at an earliest. The Advisor asked the DC for conducting aggressive vaccination campaign in far flung area of the district.
While giving details about the measures taken in the district, CMO, Dr K C Dogra gave a detailed power point presentation on Covid-19 in the District Udhampur. He also briefed about the active positive cases, Block wise distribution of cases as per bulletin, Sample collection, Availability of oxygen concentrator, Isolation, contract tracing Vaccination and age wise distribution in the district.
Advisor had a detailed review of the available infrastructure and requisite facilities in the designated Covid Care Centres besides taking stock of Home Isolation facility being provided to Corona virus patients. He asked the concerned officers to ensure adequate arrangements in these COVID Centres as per prescribed guidelines to extend best possible Medicare to the ailing. He laid stress on the tele-consultations and tele-medication. Advisor also enquired about the status of vaccination, testing, contact tracing, ICU facilities, follow up of isolated patients at home, availability of bedding capacity at designated centers.
While reviewing COVID-19 facilities being provided in the designated centres of the district, he directed the concerned officers to upscale the vaccination process and urged the people to get vaccinated at designated Centes to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. He advised BDCs, DDCs, ULB members and PRIs of the district to organize block level/ Panchayat level awareness programmes to generate mass awareness about the vaccination, testing, SOPs and guidelines to be followed for the containment of COVID-19.
Advisor Baseer Khan laid emphasis on the PRIs to motivate and generate mass awareness among 18-44 years category to come forward and get vaccinated against Covid. PRIs were asked to motivate the general public to go for COVID-19 vaccination to avoid the spread of COVID-19 infection as vaccination is extremely important to build immunity against the COVID-19 infection. Advisor asked Deputy Commissioner to expedite the vaccination and testing campaign in a mission mode and achieve the targets in a fixed timeline.
During the meeting, BDCs and DDC members and President MC raised many issues and demands regarding completion of under construction tourist hut at Panchari, strengthening of 3 tier panchayati Raj system, Shortage of staff in PHCs. Deputy Commissioner apprised the Advisor that 95% works have been completed. President MC apprised the Advisor regarding ventilator and lack of human resource in the PHCs. Religious leaders also thanked the Advisor and District Administration for the efforts of government towards containment of Covid-19 measures.
DDC Chairperson, Udhampur thanked the Lieutenant Governor and the Advisor for being proactive during COVID especially during the second wave and helping out the Union Territory to fight against the pandemic in the most efficient and best possible way. He also thanked the Deputy Commissioner, BDCs, DDCs, PRIs Civil society representatives of traders Associations, Transporters and religious leaders for playing active role against Covid 19 and give full support to the administration to curb this disease.
Enroute, Advisor Baseer Khan visited Panchayat Ghar Malhar Lower and inspected the ongoing works of Rural Development there. He also interacted with the PRIs. The officers present and the PRIs were asked to start IEC activities in their respective areas and to create awareness among the rural/urban masses for taking preventive measures to secure human lives from deadly virus. Director RDD was asked to immediately identify the land for left out Panchayat ghars in the district and ensure availability of water, electricity, Provision of Rainwater harvesting in all Panchayat ghars in the district. Special emphasis will be laid on water conservation and water harvesting.
Advisor Baseer Khan also visited 05 bedded Covid Care Centres at High School Mand and High School Garnai Ladhyal and took stock of management of these centers too. He directed the officers to remain vigilant and provide the best services to the patients. He said that this unique arrangement of 05 bedded Covid Centers on the directions of Lieutenant Governor has a very important role to play in covid care management.
The Advisor also had an extensive review of ongoing developmental works of Patnitop Development Authority and Mansar/Surinsar Development Authority. He directed the concerned CEOs of these Authorities to complete the projects within stipulated time lines. The Advisor reviewed the Mantalai project being executed by NBCC. He directed the CEOs of the Development Authorities to furnish the concept papers as already directed in the recently held meeting within seven days delineating all the details of infrastructure available in the respective authorities and further requirements. He emphasized on the need to have assets inventoried and data bank compiled about the physical infrastructure available in the respective Development Authorities.
