Jammu, June 25: Theatre, Film and TV actor, director, Kanupriya Shankar Pandit decorated ‘Young Voices of Theatre’ today which is a distinctive National Theatre Talk Show by Natrang with her brilliant thoughts. The show, which is featured at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu everyday, showcases outstanding young theatre practitioners of India, who share their inspirational views with the global audience. Director Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that this unique endeavour of Natrang has become an important theatre happening of the country because of its content and valuable views of the guest speakers, he also complimented them for their praiseworthy work. A trained actor and a passionate exponent of Theatre for children and youth, Kanupriya has been pursuing drama since the age of 6 years by being a part of “Bal Rangmandal”, Patna, Maithili Theatre group “ Bhangima” and Radio plays. She has also been a part of “Nirman Kala Manch” as a facilitator for their children’s group “Safarmaina”. She started taking workshops at the age of 20 while pursuing her studies at Delhi University, simultaneously getting trained from Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and National School of Drama. Her training in ‘Bharatnatyam’ from ‘Bhartiya Nritya Kala Mandir’, Patna and Hindustani vocal comes in handy when it comes to the concepts of rhythm, movement and music. She formed her group ‘Killol Kala Foundation’ in 2004 in Mumbai and has been actively conducting workshops, weekend classes, ”Prithvi Summertime”, and directing simple and complex musical plays. Her plays “Dhara ki Kahani” and “Doobdhan” is being performed at various festivals like ‘Jashnebachpan’, Delhi, ‘Natyaroop’, Bhopal, ‘Katha Sammelan’, Patna and Benaras, ‘Kala Ghoda’, Mumbai among others in India. She likes to adapt stories from her own region Mithila and in this series Phanishwarnath Renu’s “Bhittichitr ki Mayuri” was highly appreciated in Mumbai’s “Khidkiyan Festival”. She was seen in interesting characters in the blockbuster film “Badrinath ki Dulhania” and “Milan Talkies.” In the past four years she was seen in varied characters regularly on daily shows like “Half Marriage”, “Kasauti Zindagi ki”, ”Story Nine Months Ki” and “Rudrakal” on channels like Star, Zee and Sony TV.
