Jammu, June 25: Police beat a youth mercilessly for not wearing a mask in the Talalb Tillo area due to which the eardrum of the youth got damaged. The victim has been identified as Vikas Singh Choudhary, resident of Talab Tillo Bohri, who was going to the Railway station to drop off his friend. While talking to a media person, he said that they were stopped at a Naka laid by police. “Due to not wearing a mask, the police insisted on challan on me but I requested them to excuse but they didn’t stop. Meanwhile some heated arguments started between us thereby police took me to the police station and beat me mercilessly,” he alleged. He alleged that police also snatched his mobile and broke it when he started recording the incident. “A police constable started beating me and then when I was taken to the police station, the guard standing on the gate also beat me. After some time all policemen started beating me and one of them slapped me on my ear due to which my eardrum got damaged,” he alleged. He said that police left him after some time and then he went to hospital where a doctor examined him and found that one of his eardrums had been damaged. SHO Talab Tillo on being contacted said that the alleged youth had committed violation for not wearing mask and he also made arguments without any reason. He said that the allegations made by the youth are totally baseless. |
