Jammu, June 25: Vishal Khatri Sabha on Friday appreciated initiative of PM Modi for organizing meeting with political parties leaders from J&K terming it big opportunity for them to work for a better future for the people.
In a statement issued here, Vishal Khatri Sabha J&K President Devender Seth said that with this meeting, PM Modi has made it clear that he wants to see peace and prosperity in J&K by engaging with political leadership of J&K and in a sense has actually empowered them and this is how the central government wants new beginning in J&K where there will be peace and happiness everywhere. Seth maintained that accommodating diverse views is beauty of democracy and it should flourish as democratic govt is best govt is world.
It will be the first political engagement since the abrogation of Article 370.
The meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give an audience to the mainstream leadership, including those who were incarcerated for opposing the Centre's move.
Aiming for a better future for people, Seth said this will be the biggest political outreach from the Prime Minister to the mainstream leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.
He further said that opening doors for meaningful engagement with the political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir is truly a step in the right direction. Seth further said that after restoration of high-speed internet, strengthening Panchayat Raj institutions and giving rights to POK refugees and Gujjars-Bakerwalas this meeting is a welcome outcome of the series of positive developments in Jammu and Kashmir by Modi Govt.
After successful conduct of DDC elections PM Modi's reach out to the political leaders is a move towards strengthening grassroots democracy further.
The political leadership should take it seriously for a better future of Jammu Kashmir but within the ambit of the constitution, added Seth.
