Weekend Lockdown to continue in Ware House Nehru Market | | | Early Times Report
Jammu , June 25: Amid worries of a possible third COVID wave, the Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market Jammu has decided to continue the Weekend Lockdown in the biggest Grain Mandi of Jammu ‘Ware House Nehru Market’. Deepak Gupta, President of Federation in a press conference held here today said that the new Delta Plus Variant case is reported in Jammu and this is the time when everyone should take extra precautions. He said that the studies showed that the Delta Plus variant, currently a cause of worry across the world, spreads more easily, binds more easily to lung cells and is potentially resistant to monoclonal antibody therapy, a potent intravenous infusion of antibodies to neutralise the virus. He said that many experts had warned that a third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic could possibly hit in coming weeks. Gupta appreciated the persuasive efforts being taken by the UT Administration to mitigate the surge of Covid 19 cases as the result of which, we are witnessing the downfall trend of covid infection cases in the UT of J&K from the last two-three week. Gupta said that there is a downfall but we all should take extra care and strictly follow the SOPs to win this war against Covid-19. He reminded that for the welfare of Traders and the Society as a whole, Traders Federation Ware House-Nehru Market Jammu observed voluntary Weekend Lockdown from April 24 till the administration imposed weekend lockdown officially. “Although administration has lifted the weekend lockdown and allowed us to open shops for the whole week, but as a responsible trade organisation, we have decided to continue the weekend lockdown in ware house nehru market for the next Three Weeks starting from 26-06-21”. Gupta said. He said that in the meeting of office bearers and senior members of Federation, it was unanimously decided that to help the administration in controlling this deadly pandemic and expected third wave, all shops in Ware House-Nehru Market and adjoining markets will observe weekend lockdown from Saturday for next three weeks. All shops will remain closed on every Saturday-Sunday during this period, he said. Gupta on this occasion also welcomed the grant of financial relief through the Special Assistance Scheme for Covid mortalities (SASCM/Saksham) to the families of victims. Gupta said that the Hon’ble LG of Jammu and Kashmir ensured the sustenance of families who have lost their sole breadwinner due to coronavirus. The scheme would provide special scholarships to children who lost their earning parent(s)/ sibling(s)/ guardian(s) to COVID-19. The special scholarship would be paid annually at the rate of Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 to children studying up to Class 12 and higher education, respectively. Under the new scheme Saksham, the surviving spouse and one eldest surviving member of affected families would receive a special monthly pension of Rs 1,000 which is a welcome step by UT administration.
