Door to door awareness campaign held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 29: The NSS unit of Government Degree College (GDC), Jindrah today organised a door to door awareness campaign for locals of Jindrah village in respect to center sponsored scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna’ (PMUY) which was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 1 May 2016 to distribute LPG connections to women of Below Poverty Line families. The NSS volunteers of GDC wJindrah today visited the families of village Jindrah who are below the poverty line and gave them details of PMUY and how they can avail benefits from this scheme which aimed at safeguarding the health of women & children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel – LPG, so that they don’t have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood. The campaign was well organized by Dr. Sunil Sharma, Programme Officer, NSS unit of GDC Jindrah under the guidance of Prof. Rajshree Dhar, the Principal of GDC Jindrah. Today’s campaign was penned down by wDr. Seema. The NSS volunteers actively participated in the event. The people of the area also gave a patient hearing to the NSS volunteers as well as clarified their doubts associated to the scheme.
