Despite cancellation of Amarnath Yatra DHSK asks medical staff to report for Yatra duty

SRINAGAR, June 29: The Jammu & Kashmir administration has for the second successive year cancelled the Amarnath Yatra, but it has made no difference for the health authorities since they have issued orders to the medical staff to report for the Yatra from the Baltal side.
On June 26, 2021 Director Health Services Kashmir (DHSK), Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather issued an order while shooting a letter to the Chief Medical Officers of Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian and Kupwara regarding the deployment of medical staff for rendering medical services during the Amarnath Yatra. “This is with reference to the subject cited above and the nominations received from your respective districts for deployment of staff for rendering medical services during Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2020. In this connection, kindly find enclosed the deployment plan for immediate necessary action in terms of informing and relieving the staff well in time, so that the staff is present at Yatra places of posting on 27 July 2021,” reads the order DHSK/Yatra-Gen/02/185-92.
The order further reads that the relieving orders of the deputed staff should be forwarded to the office of DHSK through the email on the email address [email protected]. It is emphasized that the doctors and the para-medics be informed accordingly, so that they can report at Baltal, before they will be allowed to proceed to their respective places of posting en-route Shri Amarnath Ji Holy Cave, reads the order.
The Directorate has identified 10 doctors for the Yatra duty and they have been drawn from Budgam, Bandipora, Shopian and Kupwara districts of the Kashmir valley. While nine of the doctors are simple medical officers the 10th one Dr. Muzamil is medical officer, anesthesia posted at District Hospital, Budgam.
Four doctors are posted in the Budgam district, three doctors in Kupwara district, two doctors in Shopian district and one in Bandipora district. The list of doctors has been attached as an annexure with the order and complete details of the doctors have been given. Their contact numbers have also been given in the order along with their present places of posting.
Besides, Dr. Muzamil, the other doctors deputed for the Yatra are Dr. Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Dr. Moin, Dr. Rahil Hassan, Dr. Altaf Hussain, Dr. Rafeeq Ahmad, Dr. Mehraj Khaliq, Dr. Wasim Ahmad, Dr. Shahid Ahmad and Dr. Akhlaq. The doctors have been advised to bring warm clothes, appropriate footwear and rainwear and two recent passport size photographs for issuance of Yatra identity cards.
