COVID-19: JK reports 308 new cases, 6 deaths

SRINAGAR, June 29: Jammu & Kashmir reported 308 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 3, 15,298. With six deaths being reported in past 24 hours the number of casualties due to the virus reached 4,316.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 308 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 99 from Jammu division and 209 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 15,298. Also six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; two from Jammu division and four from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 493 more COVID-19 patients have been recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 149 from Jammu division and 344 from Kashmir division. Besides this, 84.46 percent of the population above the age of 45 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.
Out of 3, 15,298 positive cases, 4,805 are active positive, 3, 06,177 have recovered and 4,316 have died; 2,102 in Jammu division and 2,214 in Kashmir division. Out of 99, 07,016 test results available, 95, 91,718 samples have been tested negative till date. Till date 24, 14,634 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 17,691 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 4,805 in isolation and 2, 18,412 in home surveillance. Besides, 21, 69,410 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 69,916 positive cases, 908 active positive, 68,181 recovered, 827 deaths; Baramulla has 23,212 positive cases, 272 active positive, 22,662 recovered, 278 deaths; Budgam has 22,525 positive cases, 276 active positive, 22,045 recovered, 204 deaths; Anantnag has 16,034 positive cases, 284 active positive, 15,550 recovered, 200 deaths; Pulwama has 14,854 positive cases, 221 active positive, 14,442 recovered, 191 deaths.
“Kupwara has 13,786 positive cases, 304 active positive, 13,317 recovered, 165 deaths; Kulgam has 11,025 positive cases, 201 active positive, 10,709 recovered, 115 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,579 positive cases, 193 active positive, 9,310 recovered, 76 deaths; Bandipora has 9,292 positive cases, 161 active positive, 9,031 recovered, 100 deaths and Shopian has 5,551 positive cases, 17 active positive, 5,476 recovered, 58 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 52,373 positive cases, 616 active positive, 50,624 recovered, 1,133 deaths; Udhampur has 11,165 positive cases, 92 active positive, 10,942 recovered, 131 deaths; Rajouri has 10,694 positive cases, 166 active positive, 10,309 recovered, 219 deaths; Kathua has 9,202 positive cases, 42 active positive, 9,011 recovered, 149 deaths; Samba has 7,059 positive cases, 25 active positive, 6,916 recovered, 118 deaths.
“Doda has 6,799 positive cases, 256 active positive, 6,430 recovered, 113 deaths; Poonch has 6,084 positive cases, 237 active positive, 5,756 recovered, 91 deaths; Reasi has 5,865 positive cases, 297 active positive, 5,525 recovered, 43 deaths; Ramban has 5,828 positive cases, 105 active positive, 5,660 recovered, 63 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,455 positive cases, 132 active positive, 4,281 recovered, 42 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 15,298 positive cases in J&K, 22,316 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
