Mayor takes stock of the water supply position in Jammu city

Jammu, June 29: In order to provide interrupted & potable water supply in this hot and humid conditions to the citizens of Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation along with Madam Sharda Kumari Councilor of ward no 47, Sham Lal Basan Councilor of ward no48, Kamal Singh Jamwal Councilor of ward no.49 today conducted an extensive tour at Boria water filtration plant situated near Kalka Colony, Bahu Fort area and took stock of the situation arisen in terms of poor & interrupted water supply to the inhabitants residing in various wards of the city.
Munish Bhatt Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti Department (PHE), Ashwani Sachedeva, Chief Engineer, JPDCL (PDD). M.P Singh, Superintendent Engineer, Mechanical (Jal Shakti), concerned Executive Engineers & other supervisory staff of both the departments & prominent inhabitants of the locality were also accompanied the mayor during the tour of the area.
Mayor issued on spot directions to both the chief engineers to take immediate remedial measures so that the people of Jammu City may get uninterrupted, timely & potable drinking water on daily basis. He further asked them that the illegal connections of all the commercial establishments such as car washing stations etc who are using water in bulk may immediately be disconnected.
Moreover the illegal residential connections be regularized by charging the prescribed fees as well as leaked water pipes passing through the lanes/main bazaars of the city be immediately plugged so that the wastage of precious water can be prevented and all the field staff of the Jal Shakti be deployed in all the wards of the city who will visit their areas & listen to the grievances of the public concerning water supply.
Besides this, Mayor along with Surinder Chowdhary Councillor of ward no. 29, Ashwani Suchedeva Chief Engineer JPDCL, Vijay Kumar Gupta Executive Engineer & other field staff of the Jal Shakti Department also visited water pumping station at Shakti Nagar & reviewed the water supply position and other issues faced by the citizens of Shakti Nagar, Rajpura, Bakshi Nagar, Shiv Nagar & other adjoining areas where water is being supplied from this particular pumping station.
The officers of Jal Shakti Department assured the Mayor that every possible step will be taken for redressal of genuine demands of public and necessary instructions have already been issued to the staff to tackle the vital issues of water supply with the Councilors of the ward on priority basis.
