DF SS protest against girls’ kidnapping | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 29: The workers of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena under the leadership of president Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city against the conversion of Sikh girls in Valley. Ashok Gupta alleged that this is a case of forceful conversion of an 18-year-old Sikh girl from the Badgam district. In another case, a girl has been allegedly abducted from Srinagar after she attended a marriage. Some reports state that she was married to a Muslim boy at the same function and has been missing since. Gupta voicing urgent concern for the cases, urged for strong action stating that one of the girls was not mentally stable. Gupta further stated that there have been claims that the girl has said in court that she has married out of her own will but the parents of the woman were not allowed inside the court, while all the relatives of the man were inside the court so that they could pressure the girl and then it is justified. Our community will not tolerate it. This is not an issue of a single woman, it is a collective issue. Gupta said that many such cases of forced conversion were coming to light and serious action needs to be taken in such cases. He said on lines of the law enacted in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh against such forced conversions and marriages, similar laws should be enacted in Jammu and Kashmir as well. |
