Jammu, June 29: At least 11 houses were completely gutted and more than 30 others are engulfed in a devastating fire that raged in hilly belt of Banihal Tehsil in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Harbans Sharma said here that a major fire broke out in the morning in village Hijwah of Mahu Mangit area under the jurisdiction of Police Post Khari. Fire fighters have been rushed to the spot. Police, Army, locals are also dousing the wild flames. “No injury has been reported so far, but the property has been damaged,” said the ADC. Around 11 houses have gutted in the fire and many are engulfed, he said. “The area is remote and hilly. The houses are mainly made of wood”, the official said. The cause of fire is still unknown. Sub District Magistrate Banihal, along with Station House Officer and other agencies, are supervising the fire fighting operation. |
