No confidence motion against MC Kathua president, vice president cancelled | Court grants interim relief to Naresh Sharma, Rekha Devi | | Early Times Report KATHUA, July 26: The ongoing tug of war in Municipal Council (MC) Kathua took another turn on Monday when suddenly the proposed meeting of floor test scheduled in support of no confidence motion against MC President Naresh Sharma and Vice-President Rekha Kumari was announced to be cancelled. On Monday, the councilors (including rebels of BJP) who had brought no confidence motion against Naresh Sharma and Rekha Devi, reached the MC office for floor test meeting but; suddenly CEO giving reference of circular released by MC, informed them regarding cancellation of meeting. The circular read as- in view of order of the J&K Special Tribunal vide order no. STJ/III/F-194/2021, dated July 23, 2021 wherein it passed instruction for ad-interim relief to the President Naresh Sharma and Rekha Devi that both the parties i.e. Petitioner and Respondents to maintain status quo on spot. Meanwhile, Naresh Sharma while addressing media said that among respondents, some are from his own organization i.e. BJP and are being misguided by independent Councilors. He said that Councilors had brought no confidence motion against the by-laws of the Council, for which he had to knock the door of court. On the other hand, Councilor Rajinder Singh (ex-MC Kathua President) said that the Councilors including five of BJP are not in a mood to compromise. This stay order is till August 4, 2021 after that the fact will be known to everyone. It is pertinent to mention here that MC Kathua has strength of 21 Councilors. Out of 21 Councilors, 12 had brought no confidence motion against President Naresh Sharma and Vice-President Rekha Kumari. |
