7/27/2021 12:20:37 AM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 26: All J&K 1947 PoJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum (SIF) called a meeting of its core committee members under the chairmanship of Amrik Singh, President of the Forum. The meeting was also joined by Surjit Singh, General Secretary of the Forum.
The Forum urged upon the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to introduce the amendment in People's Representation Act in the Parliament to pave way for the Delimitation Commission to defreeze 24 Legislative Assembly seats reserved for PoJK Sharnarthis and out of 24 seats 1/3rd seats reserved for the PoJK Sharnarthis who displaced due to the Pakistan aggression in 1947, adding that more than 40 forty thousand families came to Jammu division and about 550 families settled in other parts of the country. Besides this more than ten thousands of people laid down their lives and attained martyrdom for the sake of their country.
The Forum reiterated their reservation over that till date neither our left out moveable or immoveable properties claims got registered nor are we being comprehensive rehabilitated by the erstwhile state governments or by the Union Govt.
The Forum further expressed that since our present strength have crossed over ten lakh and more than there are 17 assembly constituencies where we have deciding votes) but no member is elected from Sharnarthi Community because of our 24 reserved seats have not been defreezed.
The Forum appealed to the Prime Minister Modi to get introduce People Representatiion bill in the current session and accord necessary amendment.
