All J&K SC&ST REF demands restoration of reservation in promotions
8/8/2021 12:02:00 AM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Aug 7: All J&K SC&ST Retired Employees Forum (REF) held its monthly meeting under the chairmanship of Prof (Dr) GL Thapa, President of the Forum. During the meeting the Forum again stressed upon the Government of Jammu Kashmir UT to restore the reservation in promotions in the Union Territory as no due representation in Government services has been given to this section of the society for the last 10 years and more especially after the abrogation of Article 370. The Forum also condemned the statement of spokespersons of J&K BJP given on August 2which relies on no facts and figures. Moreover, it is very unfortunate and strange that time and again, some people who are neither aware of history nor of the Indian Constitution, come in the media with the demand to abolish caste based reservation.
Despite the majority of the Members of Parliament from the reserved categories, Constitutional rights of the reserved categories are not being protected because they all are being controlled by their party chiefs to which they belong. The meeting was attended by Seva Dass Digra, GL Bhagat, M L Hans, GD Dogra, Amar Nath Behnal, TC Bavouria, Jagdish Raj Basan, VD Triyal, Des Raj Sangral, Paras Ram Angral and many others.
