SKUAST-J organizes training programme on “Processing of Lemon”

JAMMU, Aug 7: Division of Food Science and Technology of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST- J), organized a day long training programme on “Processing of Lemon” under RKVY project entitled, “Value addition of sub-tropical fruits for women empowerment in Jammu district” at village Chatha Farm, District Jammu. In this training about 40 participants including rural farm women from village Chatha Farm participated.
Deeraj Sharma HDO, Zone Satwari at the start of the programme extended warm welcome to the participating Sarpanch, Naib Sarpanch, Panch and rural women of Chatha Farm village. Dr Neeraj Gupta, Principal Investigator, RKVY Project started the training programme and gave detailed demonstration for making Pickle and squash from lemon fruit. Dr Anju Bhat, Professor and Head, FST delivered the lecture on importance of processing. Avtar Singh Sarpanch of Chatha village was very pleased to know the technique of processing of lemon fruit and also expect such types of trainings in future also. At the end of the programme, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, RKVY Project, Division of FST, Chatha, SKUAST Jammu extended the vote of thanks to the HDO, Sarpanch, Naib Sarpanch, Panch, participants and the persons involved in the training programme.
