GGM Science College celebrates one year of NEP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: Celebrating a year of National Education Policy NEP 2020 NSS GGM Science College organized a webinar. The webinar started with welcome address by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. This is the first education policy of the 21st century and replaces the thirty-four year old National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986. To mark the first anniversary of the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Academic Bank of Credit providing multiple entry and exit options for students in higher education, 1st year engineering programmes in regional languages and guidelines for internationalisation of higher education. The resource person Dr. Jagjit Singh, Co-ordinator Chemistry Department CLUJ highlighted that the NEP focused on increasing the Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education space. NEP 2020 foccusses to end the fragmentation of higher education by transforming higher education institutions into large multidisciplinary universities and colleges, each of which will aim to have 3,000 or more students. The larger goal is to make Indian learners truly global citizens who are future-ready. Emphasising on the hub spoke model, several vocational courses being introduced and most important no student will be left out. Dr. Ravender Tickoo; worthy Principal appreciated efforts made by NSS in organizing awareness webinars and highlighted the role of NEP in higher education. The NEP 2020 boldly envisions three important thematic developments. Firstly, it seeks to shift from content-driven curriculum that earlier inspired rote learning to applied learning. Secondly, design a 360-degree assessment model that covers educational, physical and mental well-being of the students. And lastly, experiential learning through vocational skills, mathematical thinking and 21st-century skills like data science and coding. The webinar ended with the formal vote of thanks. E- certificates were given to all the students of different colleges of JK UT. |
