Jammu, Aug 7: Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) J&K, under the guidance of Director Indian Systems of Medicine, AYUSH J&K, Dr. Mohan Singh and Supervision of District Nodal Officer AYUSH, Reasi Dr. Ravinder Pandita, has been organizing a series of awareness activities which include plantation drive of medicinal plants in various ISM institutions and in collaboration with other departments under the program of Azadi KA Amrit Mahotsava.
In this series, an awareness program regarding the use of medicinal plants and plantation drive is conducted in Health and Wellness Centre PHC Miyari Block Katra, wherein a team comprising Dr. Arun Gupta Medical Officer, AYUSH, Dr. Meetu Dutta and Dr. Zareena Akhter MO PHC Miyari along with Pharmacist Vikram Sharma, made people aware about the various uses of medicinal plants present in their surroundings with the theme “Tum Mujhe Plastic Do, Main Tumhe Pauda Doonga”.
In addition to this, AYUSH Immunity booster kits comprising of restorative medicines and supplements like Chavyanprash were distributed among people along with saplings of medicinal plants like Arjuna, Giloya, Shatavari, Aloe vera, Tulsi, Bael, Amaltas, Arjuna, Bahera were also given to public. As the first week of August is observed as Breast Feeding Week, Dr. Gupta who is also a specialist in Ayurvedic obstetrics and Gynecology elaborated about the AYUSH principles and practices to optimize the quality and quantity of breast milk and role of medicinal plants and home remedies in addressing lactation issues to promote breast feeding among lactating mothers.
A plantation drive of medicinal plants was also organized in presence of PRIs and Prominent citizens of Panchayat Halqa Kotli Bajalian in the vicinity of Govt. Ayurvedic Dispensary Kadmal (Nomain). It is also pertinent to mention here that all AYUSH Medical Officers and Officials also expressed their gratitude towards the efforts of District Development Commissioner Sh. Charan Deep Singh who initiated the work of establishing a demonstration Medicinal/ Herbal Garden in the premises of mini secretariat, Reasi for promotion of Medicinal Plants.
