Reviews winter preparedness for dumping of food-grains in snow bound areas

JAMMU, Aug 31: Director Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary, conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts and reviewed implementation of ongoing departmental schemes.
During the tour, the Director held interaction with the general Public, PRIs regarding availability and distribution of food grains at various places. He also redressed public grievances on the spot.
The Deputy Director Food and Rationing, Dr. Javed Iqbal Rather and the Assistant Directors of the Districts accompanied him during the tour.
In Udhampur, Flour mills namely Shalamar Flour Mill, Trikuta Flour Mill and RC Flour Mill were checked and on the spot directions were passed to stop allocation of wheat to Shalimar Flour Mill as the quality of Atta was not up to the mark and the mill lacked testing equipments, besides the consignment meant for distribution were found to be underweight.
At Ramban, interactions were held with DDC Chairperson Ramban and District Development Commissioner with regard to functioning of the Department Public grievances and doorstep delivery of food grains.
Food Stores at Ukhral and Banihal were also inspected by the Director. He also held an interaction with locals and PRIs regarding winter dumping of food-grains for three (3) months.
On day two, the Director conducted field visits in the Sub-Division Marwah in District Kishtwar and held meetings with PRIs and public camps were also held in which various issues were raised by the public out of which some issues were redressed/resolved on the spot. Inspection of Stores and FPSs were also conducted, particularly keeping in view winter preparedness in remote and hard zones of District Kishtwar particularly Sub-Division Marwah i.e. Marwah, Warwan and Paddar Subdivision respectively also Checked Food Stores Matigauran (Kokernag), Marwah and sale depots in village Basmina, Inshan in Warwan, food stores in Chatroo and Mughal Maidan, Atholi and Gulabgarh in Padder.
The Director also met District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar and discussed various issues particularly renovation of road link to Tehsil Machail for timely dumping of food-grains for harsh winters and tender finalization with regards to door step delivery of foodgrains and DDC assured both will be ensured in time bound manner.
The Director, FCS & CA appreciated the role of Assistant Director, Kishtwar.
He also visited Tehsil Bonjwah and inspected the food-store/sale depots, interacted with the public and PRIs of the area with regard to availability of food-grains and functioning of the Department.
The public of the area lodged a complaint against the Salesman of Government sale Depot Patnazi. Accordingly, the Director also visited the sale depot Patnazi where the prominent persons of the village, PRIs, Nambardar, Chowkidar and local administration, including Naib Tehsildar concerned and Patwaris were present.
On the spot inspection reveals non-maintenance of record and less quantity of ration available in the store viz-a-viz issued quantity.
Few people raised the issue of non-distribution of rations to them for months together, which the salesman accepted in the said meeting. He also agreed that sugar meant for public purpose is lying in the store and not lifted by him till date, which has been brought to notice by Naib Tehsildar concerned.
On the basis of aforementioned facts, the salesman Daljeet Singh was placed under suspension pending enquiry into his conduct owing to misappropriation and non distribution of food grains/besides non-maintenance of record and the TSO was directed to handle the distribution himself under close supervision of Naib Tehsildar concerned.
Every place detailed interactions were held with the concerned PRI's and public and on the spot directions were passed for redress of public grievances.
