Jammu, Aug 31: Om Nagar area at Udaywala in Jammu outskirts which falls under Ward No. 61 is without by lanes, drains and garbage collection bins.
Residents said, “Even three years after the Municipality elections were held nothing has been done in our area. We continue to live in a miserable condition.” “The drains have not been repaired for the past many years. Lanes and by lanes are in shambles. No one comes to collect the garbage,” they added.
Residents said that politicians visit the area only at the time of elections and once the process is over they forget about their promises. “We have approached the concerned officials on many occasions but our pleas have fallen flat on deaf ears. No one seems interested in addressing our genuine grievances,” they said, adding, “During rainy season dirty water seeps into our houses and shops. We have learnt to live with water logging. No one even comes to collect the garbage. Despite our area falling within the city limits, we have been left to fend on our own. The condition of our area is worse than a village. Lanes in our area were repaired 13-years ago and after that no one has bothered to come and see our plight.” |
