No traffic on highway connecting Ladakh with Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 3: Traffic was on Friday suspended on the national highway, the only road link connecting Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir. No vehicle was allowed from either side of the road on Srinagar-Leh national highway for weekly maintenance, a traffic police official told today. He said the UT of Ladakh and UT J&K had agreed to allow Beacon authorities to undertake weekly maintenance at Zojila pass every Friday. Traffic on the highway will be resumed on Saturday subject to good road condition and fair weather, he said. The highway remained closed for winter months from January Ist every year to heavy snowfall and avalanches. Meanwhile, the administration has started sending stocks for winter to different parts of Ladakh. |
