Govt’s new initiatives likely to render over 5000 youth of Kathua, Udhampur jobless | Helpless youth surprise over criminal silence of their representatives | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 3: While Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Friday launched the ‘J&K Tourist Village Network under Mission Youth’ to create job opportunities for rural youth, his officers working on a design to render over 8000 more local youth, especially of Kathua and Udhampur districts, jobless by closing bars and restaurant across the UT. Over 8000 youth of Ramnagar and Billawar areas of Udhampur and Kathua districts are serving in different Bar and restaurants across Jammu region. Bars and restaurants are controlled by staff from these two belts for a long. Those who are serving in these bars have no other source of income as they belong to poor families of these two Kandi belts. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, these poor youth could not get any regular jobs because they have expertise in this industry only. After the opening of bars and restaurants in July this year, thousands of these poor youth were hoping to get back to their traditional job but the recent decision of the authorities to shut all bars is going to make them jobless. Ironically, peoples’ representatives of these belts have also maintained a criminal silence over behaviour of the authorities to render such a large number of local youth jobless. The self-styled organizations which claimed to protect the rights of Jammu people and Hindus too have maintained criminal silence reasons best known to their leaders. These poor helpless youth have demanded that authorities should provide them alternative jobs before closing all bars and restaurants with one stroke. Already over 2000 street food vendors of these two belts are facing starvation due to Coronavirus. These street food vendors have established their small footpoints at specified ‘Rehri-Zone’ to earn his livelihood stably. Importantly Corona has already rendered nearly 2000 street-vendors jobless. Majority of these vendors are native of the remotest hilly areas of Kathua and Udhampur districts. In the search of jobs they have migrated to the cities and towns. Majority of these vendors are living in rented houses with their families. |
