Jammu, Sept 7: Punjab National Bank conducts awareness camp for spread of general awareness among public and customers of the hank regarding features of social security schemes (micro insurance) launched on 9th may 2015 by Sh Narinder Mod,. Hon.ble Prime Minister of India and claim settlement procedures under Pradhan Mantn Surksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY for accidental Death) and Pradhan Mantn Jeevan Jyoti Yojana (PMJBBY for Natural Death) PMSBY Scheme is available to people in the age group 18 to 70 years at annual premium of Rs 12/- (Rs Twelve Only) and PMJJBY is available to people in the age group of 18 to 50 years with annual premium of Rs 333/- (Three Hundred Thirty) having a bank account who give their consent to join / enable auto-debit.
Customers of the bank who have enrolled under both or any of schemes of PMSBY and PMJJBY paying their renewal premium in the month of May every year are covered for accidental and normal death cover of Rs 200000/- (Rs Two lakh) each. The amount is payable to the nominee recorded while opening of account with bank in case of the death of the account holder. The nominee has to submit documents as per checklist available with each branch to the base branch where the deceased maintaining his account within one month from the death of the account holder. Sh Yatender Kumar Circle Head of Punjab National Bank informed that deaths due to Covid Pandemic are also included after Ist March 2020 under the above scheme. He further informed that awareness camps are being organized at each rural branch of circle along-with camps organized by financial literacy counselors of PNB at district headquarters for its maximum outreach.
