Handsover his car to class-IV employee, vehicle meets with an accident
SED officer misuses official position
9/8/2021 11:20:58 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 8: A vehicle of senior official of the School Education Department (SED), driven by a class-IV employee meeting with an accident has opened Pandora’s Box.
When the vehicle met with an accident it was driven by a contingent paid worker, who was unauthorised to drive an official car.
Sources informed Early Times that even the insurance of the vehicle was due since January 2021. Astonishingly the official reportedly took a car (Breeza JK02BV-6778) from the Directorate SED Jammu to his residence which was driven by a class IV employee, who was not authorised to drive an official vehicle. Although four official drivers were present in the department selected through SSRB, they were ignored by the senior official and handed-over the car to a fourth class employee.
They further said that the incident took place on September 4, 2021 when Breeza car belonging to the School Education Department Jammu met with an accident with truck in the evening at Rajbagh in Kathua district as a result the car suffered huge damage. The official sensing the mistake committed by him didn’t let the case be registered with the police.
They said that officials violated the guidelines by giving an official car to an unauthorised person, who is a contingent paid worker in the department and taking to his residence which was in another district. He took a car to his home as the next day he had to attend a function in Jammu on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, they added.
Interestingly, the vehicle has been parked somewhere in Kathua for repair, which is still there. But the question arises that despite having permanent drivers, the officials prefer fourth class employees, who are not permitted to drive cars.
Sources said the permanent drivers are sitting without work as officials don’t give them official vehicles.
Despite repeated attempts to contact the Director SED Jammu, he was not available for his comments.
