Gill appreciates Gaekwad for raising demand of pension for former cricketers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 26: Senior Cricketer from J&K and Apex Council member of JKCA, Rajesh Gill appreciated the former Indian Test Opener Anshuman Gaekwad, who represented the Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) in the BCCI Apex Council for persuading the demands of pension for the former cricketers who played less than 25 first class matches. Recently Gaekwad released a statement and said that the board is all set to come up with a pension proposal for former players discussed in the last meeting and Sourav Ganguly, President BCCI has also assured that he would come up with a proposal in the next meeting for the pension of former Players who played less than 25 first class matches. At the moment it is pension for 25 matches it would come down to 10 gradually. It needs to mention here that the ICA's long-standing demands include pension for former players who have played less than 25 first-class games, pension for widows of former cricketers and women domestic cricketers. Rajesh Gill welcomed the move of ICA board of directors specially Anshuman Gaekwad for persuading the demands of former Cricketers in BCCI Apex Council meeting and also thanked BCCI President Sourav Ganguly for assuring and fulfilling the genuine demands of former cricketers. Gill further informed that there are so many formers cricketers of Jammu & Kashmir who have played less than 25 first class matches and are not in government service and facing lot of problems in their day to day livelihood. On domestic players' hike, Gill said, "It is a very good decision of the BCCI because it is very difficult for all good cricketers to play for India, difficult for all to earn the same kind of money but at least now they don't have to worry about their livelihood." |
