SKUAST-J conducts CET 2021 for admission to Undergraduate courses

JAMMU, Sept 26: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) under the guidance of Prof JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor, conducted Common Entrance Test-2021 (CET) for admission to the undergraduate degree programmes in different faculties for the academic session 2021-22 today. The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a delay in the start of the current academic session The entrance examination was held at 6 different centers located at GGM Science College, Jammu; SPMR, College, Jammu; MAM College, Jammu; Govt College for Women, Gandhi Nagar; Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, RS Pura; and Faculty of Agriculture, Chatha. An overwhelming response was received for admission to various professional undergraduate programmes in the university including B.Sc.(Hons) Horticulture which is institutionalized for the 1st time in SKUAST-Jammu. Out of total 3071 applicants, 2524 including the candidates from other states appeared in the CET-2021 which comes to 82.18 per cent of the total applicants for admission to 242 seats. Besides these, 15 percent seats on All India quota are being filled through Indian Council of Agricultural Research in Agriculture and 10 percent seats in Veterinary Sciences by Veterinary Council of India.
The test was conducted smoothly with appreciable support of the staff and the Principals and Deans of the above mentioned institutions. The SOPs and guidelines related to Covid-19 pandemic were adhered to during the test. The university Flying Squad comprising of Dr Jag Paul Sharma, Director Research and Registrar; Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean Students' Welfare along with Director Education, Dr SEH Rizvi visited the centers to oversee the conduct of the entrance examination, said Prof Sushil Kumar Gupta, I/C University Examination Cell, SKUAST-Jammu. The result, schedule of the counseling and other updates shall be available on the university website www.skuast.org.
