Ajit Colony Extn needs deep drains | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 28: Ajit Colony Extension in Ward No 32 is one of the least developed colonies of the capital city so far as drainage system is concerned which is without any drainage system worth the name as none was ever laid. The residents are suffering due to lack of one of the basic amenities of a clean locality despite tag of smart city and slogans of 'Development for All' and 'Clean and Green Jammu'. A DPR was made on the initiative of erstwhile MLA but due to dissolution of Assembly it couldn't be given a practical same. Repeated reminders to Advisor, Mayor, Municipal Commissioner and concerned Councillor JMC have so far gone unheeded. Residents have made soakage pits in their houses for disposal of kitchen and wash-rooms waste water but there is no provision for disposal of rain water due to non-existence of any drainage system leading to water logging, stagnation of water in the potholes on the road which also needs blacktopping as despite the work of blacktopping undertaken twice some of the streets have been left leading to strong resentment. Revised DPR needs to be got prepared including the entire extension area keeping in view the ground realities so that an effective drainage system is laid which can be possible through deep drains only. Attention of the concerned authorities and LG and concerned advisor is once again drawn through this column for action without any further delay so that our sufferings are mitigated. |
