Magic Bus India Foundation conducts "Menstrual Hygiene Workshop" in Jammu | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 28: A day-long workshop on the issue of "Menstrual Hygiene and Safe Menstrual Practice" was held by Team Jammu of Magic Bus India Foundation for the underprivileged communities in Jammu. A team of 4 Youth Mentors namely Neelam Sharma, Lalita Sharma, Deepak Kumar and Preeti Sharma under the supervision of the Cluster Manager actively participated in the activity. Discussions veered on good menstrual hygienic practices such as use of sanitary napkins; washing and cleaning; how to dispose sanitary napkins, followed by precautions to be taken during the period and dietary habits, so, as to enable the rural community women to lead a healthy reproductive life in future. Attending the workshop, Rajni, a community woman, stated, "The workshop has sensitized me on various complications arising out of lack of menstrual hygiene. I will be more conscious about maintaining hygiene in future and will further spread the message among other women in my neighborhood. At the end of the workshop, sanitary pads and soaps were distributed among women and girls present. Later, the Youth Mentors also conducted a door-to-door awareness drive for those who could not attend the workshop. |
