DB grants two months' time to file draft revised jail manual | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 28: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking farming of new jail manual for J&K a division bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul granted two months time to file draft revised jail manual of J&K UT and Ladakh UT. The DB observed that it appears that till date nothing has been brought on record regarding up-gradation and finalization of the Jail Manual on behalf of the UT of J&K. The ASGI T. M. Shamsi, appearing for the UT of Ladakh submitted that his status report is already on record and that in the UT of Ladakh the jail manual is in the process of revision and finalization. He prayed for two months' time to place the draft revised jail manual of Ladakh before the Court. The senior AAG B A Dar appearing for the UT of J&K submitted that the jail manual of the J&K has been revised and that it will be place before the Court on the next date. The DB granted two months time to file draft revised jail manual and fixed December 23, 2021. |
