Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 30: From different districts of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, a team of 40 Sarpanchs, including 12 women Sarpanchs went on a 7-day exposure visit to two model villages, in the Ferozepur district of Punjab. This visit aimed to get information related to the development works being done under Panchayati Raj Institutions and Gram Panchayat. The team visited the Government Middle Smart School, Medical Sub Centre, Anganwadi Centre, Open Gym for Women, Park for Children, Bharat Nirman Rajiv Gandhi Seva Kendra, Gym for Boys, Government Middle School, Water Works, Cremation ground and finally the Thapar model water treatment system. The team was immensely impressed with these projects. The Tehsil chief gave information about all the assignments. During this visit, all Sarpanches were also informed about government grants and the MGNREGA scheme. It should be noted that with the help of this programme one hand, communication was established between the Panchayat representatives, and on the other, they also got an opportunity to understand the works being carried out at the Panchayat level in other states. For this visit, the Panchayat representatives thanked the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, Principal Secretary Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Bipul Pathak and the Director of Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Rakesh Sarangal. They also expressed their gratitude to the Director of Jammu Division, Kishore Singh Chib and the entire RGSA team, the delegates promised that they would use whatever they learned from this visit to develop their region. |
