Horticulture department holds Kissan Goshthi cum plantation drive | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 30: A Kissan Ghosti cum plantation drive under the scheme ATMA was held at village Meen Charkan in Zone Purmandal of District Samba. Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak was the chief guest on the occasion. The inauguration of the programme began with plantation in an area of over 25 kanals in the Kandi belt of the district. More than 100 farmers of the district attended the programme. During the programme, sanctions for the purchase of tractors, construction of deep bore well, construction of vermi compost units under various centrally sponsored schemes were handed over to the eligible orchardist by Director Horticulture Jammu. During the interaction with the farmers of the district, the chair deliberated them about the various schemes of the department and laid emphasis in planting of High Density Plants in their fields so as to increase their income. He also asked the farmers to plant Aloe Vera plants in their rain fed areas so as not only to utilize these lands but also generate income from such areas. Fanners of the area assured him that they shall take up such plantation with full zeal. Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu & Chief Horticulture Officer Samba along other officers/officials of district were also present during the programme. |
