Endemic Stage | | |
As the COVID-19 cases are on decline experts are suggesting that India has entered an endemic stage—this stage of any disease is reached when a large section of the population becomes immune to a disease, either through vaccination or through antibodies acquired from a prior infection. At this state, the spread of the disease starts to slow down—the ray of hope has started to emerge that life will return to normal in the coming days. The threat of COVID-19 third wave seems to be diminishing but experts believe that there is no scope for complacency as the virus can mutate and raise its ugly head again. They believe that there is still a long way to go and people should keep on following the COVID-19 sops in letter and spirit. The higher educational institutes have been reopened and offline class work for the class 10th and 12th has commenced. The students are being vaccinated and till now the situation has been under control. But the class work for lower classes is yet to resume. People are eagerly waiting for the vaccinations to be approved for the children so that they can return to school. The last two years have been tough for the human race as the pandemic brought everything to a standstill. Till the vaccinations came, things were pretty bad and people lived under the constant fear of getting infected and dying. As on date the number of cases has declined and people are not getting infected like earlier days. However, the COVID-19 threat is still prevailing as till date no such medicine has been found that can treat the virus. The only way out available are vaccines as they develop the antibodies and provide immunity to a human being to fight the virus. Till now experts are divided over the opinion about how long can the COVID-19 vaccine remain effective? Do people need to get vaccinated every year? Or is that two shots are enough to make people immune for their lifetime? The research is being conducted and the time will answer this question. The pandemic has taught us many lessons. The human race has realized that nothing can be taken for granted. An invisible virus turned our lives upside down and we are still grappling to come to terms with life, as the new normal is different from the one which we used to witness earlier. |
