Three days Kathak dance workshop concludes at Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 4: Three day workshop of Kathak Dance organized by Institute of Music & Fine Arts (IMFA) in collaboration with Himalayan Education Mission concluded today at Rajouri. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Priya Dutta HOD Kathak department along with faculty members Shivani Kapoor, Vijay Kumar and Raj Kumar Sharma. In the workshop 50 students drawn from various institutions of Himalayans Education Mission Rajouri participated. Some students also showed interest in vocal music seeing great zeal and enthusiasm of them Raj Kumar Sharma faculty member of IMFA took initiative to fulfill their dreams to teach them vocal music. The workshop concluded with the performance of the students. Dr. Priya also performed Kathak dance along with students of IMFA Sabha Majid, Ritika Sountra, Sunidi Banerjee, Umesh Kumar and Shivam Shukla. Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik Principal, IMFA was the chief guest on the function and he said that Kathak is an ancient dance by rhythmic foot work, graceful hand gestures, pirouette lyrical movements and storytelling. This is first time in the history of the IMFA, the programme of such magnitude was organized at Rajouri. |
