Forget jobless youth, JK Govt to reemploy retired officials

10/4/2021 11:59:37 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 4: Much against the vision of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to empower youth in Naya Jammu and Kashmir through jobs and other employment avenues, the J&K government has decided to reemploy retired government officials, who are already enjoying pension benefits. While the retired officials will earn more, the unemployed youth will continue to struggle. Official documents reveal that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, department of Rural Development and Panchayati has decided to engage retired engineers for various jobs. Official documents reveal that it was an “Administrative Council Decision No. 86/13/2021 Dated 14.08.2021.” “Pursuant to the Administrative Council Decision No.86/13/2021 dated: 14.08.202, for engagement of retired Engineers on contractual basis in the Rural Engineering Wing of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj for execution of works , it is hereby ordered that: “Director Rural Development Jammu/ Kashmir are hereby authorized to initiate the process for engagements of the retired Engineers on contractual basis against the available vacancies of Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), Assistant Engineers (AEs) & Junior Engineers (JEs) in their respective divisions to expedite execution of works in the prescribed application form enclosed herewith.” The government decision can bring a windfall for such selected retired officials as they are likely to get “handsome salaries” which shall be obviously apart from their pension. “The Junior Engineers shall be paid an consolidated amount of Rs.30,000/- PM, Assistant Engineers shall be paid Rs.40, 000/- PM & Assistant Executive Engineers shall be paid @ Rs. 45000/-PM,” reads the government order. The educated youth from the engineering background are up in arms against the government.
“Where on earth this Happens, Our Passout Students from NIT'S , IUST, and Other College are waiting for Job and Govt is keen on Engaging retired Engineers. @manojsinha_ Ji,Please revoke this decision and don't dust Hopes of students Who have opted Engineering,” reads a viral post on the social media.
Its pertinent to mention that public alienation has been “so high against the administration” in Jammu and Kashmir that even leaders from the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party at the center have been giving vent to their feelings. The BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir at times agree with the public opinion that “Babus don’t listen to the voice of the people.”
Despite repeated attempts the concerned were not available for comments.
