5 months on, State Medical Council defunct | Doctors left to fend on their own | |
Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 7: State Medical Council has been defunct for the past five months due to the government failing to appoint its new chairman. Job of the State Medical Council is to provide the registration certificates to doctors, verify their degrees and credentials. Even the grievances of doctors are redressed by the council. The doctors are facing a lot of problems due to the council being defunct. The new pass outs are not getting their certificates so that they can apply even for a private job. The doctors who have taken premature retirement too are struggling to get their certificates cleared. The authorities have been assuring that the new chairman will assume charge soon but till date nothing has been done in this regard. The doctors working in foreign countries and in private hospitals are facing a lot of difficulties due to their credentials not getting verified. The doctors have urged the authorities to make this council functional at the earliest so that their issues could get resolved. |
