Former VC KB takes stock of crop damage, demands actual assessment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 23: Former Vice Chairman (VC) Kissan Board (KB) Daljit Singh along with Manga Ram, BJP Jourian Mandal President and Ankush Choudary, Secretary BJP Kissan Morcha today visited different areas of Khour and Akhnoor Constituency to take stock of crop damaged due to untimely heavy rain and hailstorm. They visited the fields and had interaction with the farmers who expressed their pain due to the huge losses of their crops. Daljit Singh while speaking to the farmers said that he will take up this matter to the concerning department and will follow the department personally so that actual assessment is done and appropriate compensation is paid to farmers for their losses. He appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary to immediately direct the agriculture department to to take the actual stock of losses so that timely and appropriate compensation can be paid. He said that people of Khour, Pargwal and Jourian are fully dependent on farming and this untimely rain, wind and hailstorm has broken the backbone of farmers’ economy. He expressed his deep concern with them and assured them every possible help.
