JAMMU, Oct 23: In order to acquaint the library professionals about the importance of inculcating reading habits among library users and to cherish the role of the books in the overall personality development of the students, the Library & Documentation Wing of SCERT, J&K , Jammu Division organized a One day online orientation programme on Book Day celebrations in Educational Institutions today. The programme was organized as per the directions of Principal Secretary to Govt. School Education Department, BK Singh and under the guidance of Director SCERT, J&K, Prof. Veena Pandita. The programme focused on how to help the library staff to promote the readings habits among students and how the schools celebrate the book day through innovative ideas. The programme was inaugurated by worthy Joint Director, SCERT, J&K, Jammu, Surinder Kumar who also laid emphasis on the importance of book reading. Resource person Sangita Gupta, Professor and Head Department of Library and Information Science, Jammu University, Jammu, was invited to accomplish the event. The programme was coordinated by Ruchi Mohan, Librarian, SCERT J&K, Jammu, who presented welcome address and also took a session regarding introduction, need and purpose of organising book reading activities in educational institutions through presentations. A total of 20 library professionals from 10 districts of Jammu province attended the programme (2 participants from each district). The program was supported by Irvinder Kour, Asst. Prof., SCERT, Jammu, Dr Sabta Kholi, Academic Officer, Manju Choudhary (Master) and Pallavi Joshi (L.A). Technical support was given by Akash Khajuria and Yugal Kishore. The program concluded with small valedictory session that included feedback from the participants. Vote of thanks was presented by Kishore Kumar, Associate Prof. (CEO), SCERT J&K, Jammu and Head of Library and Documentation Wing. |
