GGM Science College organizes Dogri poetry recitation competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 24: In connection with the Iconic Week Celebration on day 2 of Dogri Literary Festival, GGM Science College organized an Inter-College Dogri poetry recitation competition. Twenty-one students from twelve Degree Colleges of Jammu District participated in the event. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Sudesh Raj, Ravender Tickoo, Nodal Principal GGM Science College and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. The guests and the participants were welcomed by Dr Vandana Khajuria, Head Department of English. In his address Dr Ravender Tickoo exhorted the students to speak their mother tongue and participate in such events in order to promote Dogri Language and Culture. The Chief Guest Sudesh Raj, retired Programme Officer All India Radio and recipient of Sahitya Academy Award appreciated the students for the beautiful rendition of the poems. She also applauded the Higher Education Department for such an initiative for promoting Dogri Culture and Heritage. Eminent poet and music composer Brij Mohan and Rachana Sharma, an educationist were the adjudicators for the event. The first cash prize of Rs 2000 was won by Lakshita Sharma of GDC Purmandal, second and third prizes of Rs 1500 and Rs 1000 were bagged by Ria Verma of MAM College and Ankita Sharma of GGM Science College respectively. Two consolation prizes of Rs 500 each were given to Rohit Kumar GDC Marh and Ravinder Kumar of GCOE Jammu. The event was anchored by Avleen Kour, student of Sem V, GGM Sc. College, Jammu. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks proposed by Prof Shrdha Anand. The entire programme was coordinated by Dr Deepa Mattoo (Convenor Literary Committee) Dr Babita Mahajan and Dr Sushma Sharma. |
