JAMMU, Oct 24: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Vice Chairman Wool and Woolen Export Promotion Council (WWEPC), Government of India, Romesh Khajuria conducted a tour of hailstorm affected villages in Bishnah constituency and demanded compensation from the government for farmers, whose crops have been damaged due to the heavy rains/hailstorms. As the weather situation became inclement, the Khajuria went out to meet farmers who have been affected badly with the massive hailstorm and heavy rains on Saturday. Khajuria visited Rehal Panchayat, Saidgarh, Shahpur, Krail Manhasa, Pandori, Arniai Area, Karyal and met the hailstorm affected farmers. Speaking on the occasion, Khajuria said that Farmers in Jammu has lost almost 100 percent of crops after Saturday’s strong winds, rainfall and hailstorm. “The damage of crops which mainly includes famous Basmati Rice, causing massive financial loss as well as liability to them,” he said. “The farmers need immediate compensation so that they clear the damaged crops from the fields by help of laboures,” he said adding, the season of next crop also depend upon sale of this damaged crops, if delayed in compensate, the farmers may lost next crop.” Khajuria maintained that the losses are huge and LG administration must proactively provide compensation to empower farmers financially. Mohan Lal, Ashok Kumar, Sonu, Chunni Lal, Sat Pal Dewan Chand and Ashok Kumar among others were also present on the occasion. |
