SAD J&K delegation meets HM, projects several issues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 24: A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) J&K met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Dera Sant Nangali Sahib Gurdwara at Digiana Ashram and apprised him about the grievances faced by the Sikh Community at large in J&K UT and also submitted a memorandum to him The delegation which was led by SAD J&K president Darbinder Singh appealed the Home Minister to restore the statehood status of Jammu and Kashmir while it also submitted that the Punjabi language be given the status of official language in Jammu and Kashmir. The delegation also demanded appointment of a Sikh as J&K High Court Judge adding that no one from Sikh community has been appointed as High Court Judge in J&K. The members also sought appointment of a Sikh representative as Advisor to the LG so as to end the discrimination with the community. They also demanded that out of eight seats for assembly and two seats for parliament, four seats of assembly and one of parliament be allotted to Sikhs of Jammu province and four seats of assembly and one of parliament be allotted to Sikhs of Kashmir province. Representation to a Sikh in the Public Service Commission and Service Selection Board as members, release of balance cash relief to PoK refugees of 1947, rolling back three farm laws, adequate security to Sikh minorities living in Kashmir valley because the selective killings are occurring and installation of statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Kunjwani Chowk Jammu, were some of the other key issues projected by the delegation. |
