Restore Statehood, announce adequate relief for crop loss to farmers: Harsh
NPP welcomes Amit Shah in Jammu with black flags
10/24/2021 11:21:02 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 24: Alleging continued discrimination and step motherly treatment with Jammu region even post article 370 abrogation, a strong contingent of NPP led by Harsh Dev Singh and Yash Paul Kundal former ministers held a massive protest and welcomed the Home Minister Amit Shah in Jammu with black flags. The protestors who were waving black flags proceeded towards the venue of Amit Shah’s rally at Bhagwati Nagar but were restrained by the police resulting in clashes with security personnel on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev lambasted the BJP govt for demolishing the centuries old Dogra State of J&K and demoting it to the level of UT. Disputing the claims of development, normalcy and corruption free system in J&K being repeatedly made by the central BJP leaders post J&K’s re-organization, Singh accused the present regime of indulging in self praise and self adulation without showing anything tangible on the ground. A govt which promised a visible change in J&K after Art 370 abrogation has failed to curb even the gradual deterioration in the general services with a highly ascendant bureaucracy averse to the woes and sufferings of common masses.
Seeking immediate restoration of statehood, Singh called for handing over power to the people of Jammu through free and fair elections. He said that weird experimentation of the centre with J&K was primarily responsible for fast deteriorating security situation in the erstwhile state.
Further seeking immediate announcement of adequate relief for the farmers, vegetable growers and orchardists whose crops were damaged due to heavy downpours and recent torrential rains, Mr Singh said that NPP would resort to massive agitation in case the needful was not done to ameliorate the lot of agriculturists in distress. The announcement of holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday was also required to be made during the current visit of HM, he added. He further called upon the visiting Home Minister to fulfill the promises of fast track recruitments for all vacant posts besides announcing a special employment drive for the unemployed youth of Jammu region. He said that the empty slogans and false rhetoric of BJP shall cost it dearly in the days to come.
