JKPM demands compensation for farmers' losses | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir People's Movement (JKPM) State Secretary, Surinder Singh Jamwal expressed concern over the losses of crops of poor farmers and fruit growers due to rains and unexpected heavy snowfall in J&K. JKPM also expressed its grief and sorrow over loss of lives in tragic incidents of landslides at different places. JKPM expressed heartfelt condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families. On one hand the people of the border areas are troubled by shelling and on the other hand the damage to crops as well as inflation has broken the back of the farmers who have taken loans under the Kissan Credit Card (KCC). JKPM urged central government and the administration of UT to assess the losses of farmers and fruit growers of J&K. JKPM appealed to announce adequate compensation and waiving off loans under KCC of the farmers and fruit growers while it also demanded to announce ex-gratia relief to the decreased persons who lost their lives in incidents of landsides. |
