Opposition creating unrest due to its shrinking political space: Suri
10/24/2021 11:24:23 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Oct 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said that opposition political parties like Congress, PDP and National Conference (NC) are trying to create unrest amongst masses due to their shrinking political space in Jammu and Kashmir.
Raman Suri said that after the abrogation of Article 370, all central laws stand extended to Jammu and Kashmir, powers have been decentralised, women have been empowered, avenues have been opened up for investors, central law enforcement agencies are made to extend their jurisdictions here in J&K, militancy is being nailed, those peddling Pakistan’s propaganda have been silenced, political parties who were acting like a stumbling block between people and government have been marginalised, security agencies have been empowered and infrastructural development is being given an impetus.
These developments are not being digested by those who had created an illusion that J&K was disturbed and will always remain so.
In the name of Security Related Expenditure (SRE) and while propagating a false narrative, the politicians of these mentioned parties were enjoying powers and never allowed institutions like Panchayats, Municipal Corporations, Municipal Committees, Town Area Committees or Block Development Councils to flourish in Jammu and Kashmir.
This was evident in itself that these leaders wanted to rule for themselves and share powers on a rotational basis but never cared for empowering common masses.
This was the reason why in 70 long years only three families and a couple of businessmen ruled J&K and no new leadership other than sons and daughters of bigwigs were allowed to emerge on the political horizon of Jammu and Kashmir.
Now that J&K UT is functioning at par with other states and UTs in the country, bureaucrats who have been put in AGMUT cadre have also realized and adopted a sense of responsibility to deliver, which was otherwise missing because of the patronage by politicians.
Jammu and Kashmir always needed such a treatment to get rid of militancy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as Union Home Minister Amit Shah has done exactly the same.
